Java-exploits are only dangerous if you visit an evil site that contains a special crafted HTML document. You can run Java on Countermail.com without any danger, our site do not contain any evil HTML. Another way to use Java-exploits is to trick the user to click on a link in an email, do not click on email links if the domain in the link looks unfamiliar or suspicious.

Due to the the latest Java exploit some web browsers have disabled older Java versions.

  • Mac OS X 10.6.x must install Apple Java Update 1.6.12, read more here.
  • Mac OS X 10.7 - 10.8 must install Java 1.7.13, go to www.java.com
  • FireFox have also made some changes, in Firefox version 17 they have disabled Java 1.7.11, but Java 1.6.x works. It's easiest to upgrade to Firefox 18.
  • In Firefox 18 you get this a plugin warning, but you can still run can run Java securely on Countermail, read more here
